How to get your free pickup scheduled
1. Confirm your car is in North Carolina and tow-accessible
Make sure your vehicle is physically in North Carolina and can be reached by a tow truck. It doesn’t need to run and it doesn’t need keys, but a truck must be able to get to it—whether it’s in a Raleigh apartment lot, a Charlotte driveway, or a gravel drive outside Boone.
2. Apply for a North Carolina duplicate title with NCDMV

Once you’ve applied for the duplicate title, contact Legacy Wheels. Tell us clearly that you do not have keys. We’ll note this when scheduling to send the right equipment—often a flatbed that can winch and load a keyless vehicle from most driveways, carports, or parking spaces across North Carolina at no cost to you.
5. Receive your duplicate title and sign it over
When the duplicate title arrives from NCDMV, sign it where indicated to transfer ownership. We’ll walk you through exactly where to sign so it’s valid. With the signed title in hand, your donation can be completed even if the car still won’t start and you never find the keys.
6. Schedule free keyless tow pickup and get your receipt
We’ll schedule free pickup anywhere in North Carolina—whether you’re in Wilmington, Winston-Salem, Durham, or a rural county. The tow operator will handle your keyless vehicle, load it, and provide the paperwork. You’ll receive a donation receipt that can support a tax deduction, often $500 or more, depending on the sale value.

Active liens or loans can delay your duplicate title
Tip: If a bank or credit union still shows as a lienholder, NCDMV may not issue a duplicate title until the lien is cleared. Check your old paperwork or contact your lender before you apply. Once the lien is properly released, the duplicate title process usually moves faster.
